Sun Yu-Li's eight banners hung around the ARTrium depict the eight trigrams, called the Pa Kua, which are the mystic symbols that users of the I Ching employ in making divinations.

Left Side of the Building



Translation : keeping still Meaning : resting, inert Graphic Symbol : mountain Family relationship : youngest son		Translation : the arousing Meaning : coming into manifestation, sudden movement Graphic Symbol : thunder Family Relationship : eldest son



Translation : the gentle Meaning : penetrationg Graphic Symbol : wind, wood Family relationship : eldest daughter		Translation : the clinging Meaning : light-giving, also clinging (spirit on either side of matter) Graphic Symbol : fire, the sun Family Relationship : middle daughter


Right Side of the Building



Translation : the abysmal Meaning : generally misfortune (spirit (middle yang line) trapped in matter (two yin lines) Graphic Symbol : water, the moon Family relationship : middle son		Translation : the creative Meaning : spirit, creative or fertilising seed, stength, circular Graphic Symbol : heaven Family Relationship : father
